Implementation of Islamic Education in the Coastal Community: Systematic Review

ABSTRACT

Islamic education for Indonesian people is considered a foundation in daily life. However, for coastal communities, the perception of the importance of Islamic education is dynamic with their participation. Due to the time difference in their work, the family's economic demands are the main obstacle for coastal communities in meeting the need for Islamic education. This review aims to evaluate the implementation of Islamic education in coastal communities in Indonesia. The protocol for implementing this review refers to previous research, which consists of Scoping the review, searching for literature, filtering the literature, describing and mapping, assessing quality and relevance: researchers evaluate each study in a descriptive map, Synthesizing, and Conclusions/recommendations. The search yielded 1,753 articles based on the keywords used. 11 articles met the inclusion criteria of this review. Based on the included studies, the government, teachers, Kyai, and parents play an important role in implementing Islamic education in coastal communities. In addition, introducing the environment and cultivating plants integrate into Islamic education following the lifestyle of coastal communities are the most interesting method to implement.
